004. [video | action] | There's no place like home, there's no place like home.

[ The feed clicks on to show the landing, empty save for the furniture. For a few minutes, that's all there is; a bare room, practically devoid of life.

Then, as if out of nowhere, four people come crashing onto the floor, as if out of thin air. It takes a moment, but eventually Brooke sits up, rubbing her head a little. Her clothes are a little worse for the wear - dirty, torn in a few spots - and her hair's a mess, but otherwise she looks okay.

The other three beside her are Cas, Max and Rose.

Brooke groans softly and stretches one arm across her chest, her other hand tugging at her elbow to pull it farther. Then she glances around, a disappointed look coming to her face. ]

This is so not what I was thinking of when I said "There's no place like home."

ooc: backdated to after the book plot. it was taking a little too long to get through the entire thing, so rose-mun and i decided to just say that brooke had attempted to contact someone in the house (specifically sam, like rose told her) through the crystal ball, but it's entirely up to andi if he heard or not. or anyone else. we also decided that brooke didn't realize they heard her, or wasn't sure if they could/would help, so they just completed the story. if you have questions/concerns/whatever, let me know. otherwise, threadhop away.

Fantastic. Honestly.

[Sam has been lingering around, hunting for his missing flatmates after noticing their absence earlier in the week. If it wasn't for Brooke figuring out a way to contact the house, there wouldn't have been a happy ending.

Still, that's not how it went down. No need to dwell on what could have happened.]

Brooke! [Relief.] Are you okay?

[ Brooke glances over, wincing slightly at how bad Rose's hair still is. That won't be easy to work out. ]

You alright?

[ She's a little surprised at how good it is to see Sam's face, since it solidifies the fact that she's still stuck in this stupid place. ]

Depends on your definition of 'okay'. I'm alive and, I think, wound-free.

So... lovin' this place yet, or wha'?

[ Brooke lets out a laugh, but it's pretty humorless. ]

Oh yeah. I couldn't think of anywhere else in the world I'd rather be.

[ She worries her lower lip for a moment. ]

Thanks for not abandoning me or anything in there.

O' course. An' thanks back at'cha. I know ya kinda thought all o' this was rubbish...

[ She sighs as she lays back down on the floor, running a hand over her face. ]

Can we not call me that? The name really doesn't fit me at all.

Sorry. It really doesn't. I did fancy those shoes, though.

[ Brooke lifts her head enough to glance down at her feet. ]

They really were pretty, weren't they?

This buildin' is righ' cruel. We get t' keep bumps, bruises, bad 'air... but not shoes. I demand justice.

I highly doubt that whoever's running this place is going to listen.

Th' way I see it, if we're all stuck 'ere anyway, we migh' as well do some thinkin', investigatin', fightin' back. It's tha', or, I dunno, playin' air 'ockey all day.

...or dyin' in Oz. There's tha' option.

[ It's not like Brooke's ever been in a situation like this. Plus, she figures that whoever brought them here is not very likely to give them any clues about getting home, so why bother?

Or she's scared that she'll end up messing things up worse. Either or. ]

Yeah, everyone that was in Oz. [ She pauses for a moment, trying to process what she just said. ] I hope I'm not supposed to do that stupid, "I had a dream and you were there, and you were there" thing because seriously? The outfit was bad enough.

[ She's not a fighter, Rose. Nor has she ever been big on the researching thing. ]

Any chance there's a pool table, too?

Don' think so. I could stand for some table tennis, m'self.

That sucks. [ She lifts herself up onto her elbows. ] When you bother whoever you're planning on bothering about the shoes, see if you can get a pool table, too.

Firs' priority will be goin' 'ome.

The...Dorothy outfit? [He can't help but crack a grin]

[ Brooke looks off camera at Rose, an amused grin coming to her face. But the look Rose gives her confuses her, so she just mouths 'What?' and holds up her hands, completely forgetting that Sam can see her. ]

[ Then she looks back at the device and looks very unamused at the grin on Sam's face. ]

Yes. And don't start calling me that, please.

[He debates it for a second, but decides against friendly torture.]

I'll try to restrain myself.

Well, uh. Let me know if you guys need anything, okay?

Good, because we never did find ourselves a Toto while we were over there, and you could fit the part really easily.

[ She could use a lot of things, like a stiff drink or a way home, but she just shrugs. ]

I'm sure I can get a really hot shower and three days worth of sleep by myself. But thanks.

[ Brooke looks a little confused when she glances over at Rose, but she figures she just embarrassed the girl, so she doesn't really think much of it. She glances back to the journal and gives Sam a small wave before she clicks it off. ]

[ She considers sticking around to see if Rose wants help, but the vibe in the room isn't exactly pleasant, so she gives Rose a wave and walks away. ]
